Lady of Leisure

I don't have a job. Yet. The job market here for part time work is great and those jobs start at around $20/hour. I've put out some feelers and will look in earnest in the next couple of weeks. But, for now, I am a lady of leisure as I get acclimated to Alice. I met one new friend (Alli) for coffee this morning, followed by a stop at the public library to get my card and a stroll through the Todd Mall until I met another new friend (Carmela) for lunch. Nice! Now I'm home doing laundry and cleaning. And catching up on the computer. That's a whole other blog post ... access to technology here in the Outback. Oy. No such thing as free or unlimited when it comes to the Internet.
Here's a little snapshot of my day so far:
Good to know.

DC is very, very far from here.

Greg has a didgeridoo already! Now he can come take lessons.

This Target is similar to the one in the states, but apparently it's not affiliated. Curious.

I can get wifi in the library!

  2. Congratulations on all the ways you're making a home there, and especially on the library card! That always means you belong. :)

  3. Love the blog. Looks like you are getting quite settled. When you get everything in place, will you post some house/yard pics? I grew up in Phoenix and still visit family/friends, so I understand the D.R.Y. challenge very well. I feel like my lips start to crack as soon as I step off the plane! (btw, think you need a cat to keep the toads & geckos in their places....)

    1. We've made the decision to not adopt any pets while we're here, but I am offering to pet sit for others. I'm looking in on two hilarious kitties right now and they are giving me lots of affection.
